THE RETURN OF JUJUTSU KAISEN – Manga Review/Recap

This review contains some SERIOUS SPOILERS of Chapter 152

The long awaited Jujutsu Kaisen will resume serialization as a part of Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #35 on Monday, August 2, 2021

WHAT HAD HAPPENED

A Jujutsu Kaisen hiatus began in June 2021 due to JJK manga creator Gege Akutami’s health problems. It was originally hoped by the Jujutsu Kaisen author that the JJK hiatus would be “around a month” since the health condition is not considered serious. Unfortunately, the indefinite break lasted longer, which meant the Jujutsu Kaisen’s Chapter 153 release date was pushed back to August 2, 2021.

CHAPTER 152 RECAP

In the last chapter, we saw a little conversation between Maki and her mom, who’s simply screaming for her life. The scene changes to Naoya who’s in serious condition, laughing at Maki’s failure to kill him, but then Maki’s mom appears behind him holding a kitchen knife. Not able to use his Cursed Energy, Naoya is then killed by Maki’s mom.

Scene changes to Maki leaving the Zen’in estate carrying Mai’s body. Nishimiya meets her and is grief-stricken to see Mai’s body. She then leaves Mai in Nishimiya’s hands.

The remaining 27 members of the Zen’in clan were killed on the same day. Days later, Gojo clan and Kamo clan proposed removing the Zen’in from the Big Three Families.

WHAT WE EXPECT FROM CHAPTER 153

We expect to see the somewhat start of Culling Game as this whole arc is about it. We kinda also expect to see our favourite characters Itadori Yuji, Fushiguro Megumi, Okkotsu Yuta back in action. We could also see another 3rd year Hakari Kinji as the trio were going to meet him. According to some sources, chapter 153 could also be a tearjerker. Let’s see where chapter 153 takes us.
