HOW WELL FEMALE CHARACTERS ARE WRITTEN IN ANIME – Popular Anime Edition

This list is 100% SPOILER FREE.

JUJUTSU KAISEN

The women of Jujutsu Kaisen‘s are strong-willed, memorable and fully fleshed-out characters with goals that are solely their own, unlike the typical Shounen female characters that are just meant to further a man’s character development. We all know how much of a beast are Maki Zen’in and Nobara Kugisaki.

ATTACK ON TITAN

The Attack On Titan universe stands out among many, popular for the strong women of its cast. From the vigilant Mikasa Ackerman to the laconic and treacherous Annie Leonhart, the series has no shortage of capable female fighters. Props to them for having some of the best written female characters.

DEMON SLAYER

When it comes to Demon Slayer, the female characters are surprisingly few and far between. Luckily, the ones we do are memorable. Chief among those would, of course, be Nezuko and Kanao, who both quickly became fan favorites. However, a few Hashira and demons gain that honor as well.

NARUTO

Naruto features quite a few incredibly strong female characters. Despite the significantly larger population of male characters throughout the series, there are still plenty of powerful kunoichi who can handle their own. Hero or villain, the strongest women of Naruto deserve some recognition.

VIOLET EVERGARDEN

Violet Evergarden is, without doubt, one of the most gorgeous anime I’ve seen. It is a crushing story about war, love, loss, and empathy. It follows the titular hero as she attempts to reintegrate into society after returning from the battlefield. Violet is no doubt, the best written female character I’ve ever seen.
