The 2nd episode of Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid named “Hot Guy Kobayashi!” was aired on July 14, 2021. This post contains my thoughts and opinions of this episode.
MY THOUGHTS ABOUT
THE PLOT : Episode 2 was hilarious, smart, and full of emotionally charged moments at the same point. I am also glad that the “Mister Kobayashi” thing didn’t go on for too long and lasted for just about a gag’s worth before going away. The situation with Ilulu was also resolved in a very Kobayashi-esque manner. This episode managed to hit just the right beats and should be counted among its best episodes to date.
THE CHARACTERS : There weren’t many supporting characters present in this episode, just the main ones and it was fantastic all the same. The chemistry between the characters in dragon maid is tremendous, and Ilulu makes for a fine addition to the tandem. The more I think about it, the more I feel that Kobayashi is the real reason the show works so well. Kanna is as cute as ever, like it’s so obvious now.
ART AND MUSIC : The opening theme is growing on me more and more each time I listen to it. The colours pop out of the screen, and the palette is very bright and refreshing. There was even an action scene that looked right out of a high-budget shounen anime. All premium stuff.
THE VERDICT
This episode was fantastic. Even better than many previous season episodes. Would you please keep them coming, KyoAni? Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2 looks ready to steal this season for itself if it keeps putting out episodes like this.
