Kyoto Animation is back after what was a perfect episode of Dragon Maid, and I’ll never get tired of saying that. Let’s talk about the latest episode of the series named “Together With You” in detail.
MY THOUGHTS ABOUT
THE PLOT : In this episode, we explore the past and the future. The past is in the form of the complex, yet the sweet relationship and the history between Elma and Tohru, and the future in the form of Tohru helping Ilulu finding a job. The rest of the plot was also great, with the comedy being not as frequent or effective as the prior episodes in the season. Various emotional moments took their place, and it worked beautifully.
THE CHARACTERS : The character of Elma has gotten a lot of love this season in particular. She has always been overshadowed by characters with more prominent personalities than her, such as Kanna and Lucoa. Thankfully, it turned out great for her, and I couldn’t be happier. Also Ilulu is a very nuanced character once you think about it, and I’m excited to see the direction the show takes her.
ART AND MUSIC : Oh boy, where to start. KYOTO ANIMATION WENT OFF in this episode. The art, animation, and music were all tremendous. The lighting, especially in the flashback scenes, looked majestic, and it felt like KyoAni genuinely spent a month animating just one half of this episode.
FINAL VERDICT
While not a perfect episode, Episode 5 was a joy to behold in all of its glory. The animation and the characters carried this episode, and that’s not a bad thing at all. Check it out if you haven’t already.
