This comparison post is gonna be a short one unlike JJK vs MHA. And also, these are entirely my opinions and thoughts, so don’t get offended.
ART
Without a doubt, both the mangas have an EXCEPTIONAL artstyle. But for me, I found Vinland Saga’s art a lot more diverse and detailed than Monster’s.
BETTER ART : Vinland Saga
CAST
For me personally, this was an EASY choice. Monster clearly dominates Vinland Saga in this category. Don’t argue with me.
BETTER CAST : Monster
FIGHTS
The encounter between Johan and Tenma LIVED UP TO THE HYPE! It felt so unreal when I reached that point of the series. I personally can’t say much.
BETTER FIGHTS : Monster
PROTAGONIST
Let’s just be honest here. Tenma was an extremely unique MC, but post farming-arc Thorfinn easily slaps everyone in this category.
BETTER PROTAGONIST : Vinland Saga
ANTAGONIST
Come on now. Askeladd was surprisingly GREAT but he just doesn’t compare to Monster’s Johan in my opinion. Don’t get offended, I’m a harsh critique.
BETTER ANTAGONIST : Monster
PLOT
I’ll have to go with Vinland Saga on this one. The character development in whole journey to even Thorfinn getting to Vinland was one hell of a journey.

CONCLUSION
Each of these series have great aspects in their own right. But I definitely enjoyed Vinland Saga WAY MORE than Monster. It was just much more interesting and unpredictable.
Don’t get me wrong, Monster is GREAT as well but Vinland Saga is just too great of an anime to compare. It’s one of those ones that I’ll easily rate more than 9.5/10
