MY THOUGHTS ABOUT
THE PLOT : This anime is in a weird holding pattern right now. It is almost as if they are biding time for something to happen, but it is taking longer than they realised. There are some plot threads that I can’t see mattering in a finale at all. It is just that nothing meaningful has happened in the show for like five episodes now.
THE CHARACTERS : I am tired of repeating this, so I’ll just say Lucoa sucks and be done with it. Her part of the episode wasn’t very good, in my opinion. Then they featured Kobayashi and Tohru, with some involvement from Kanna. The next part involved Ilulu’s shopkeeping adventures, and it was sad, heartwarming, and charming.
ART AND MUSIC : Anytime the show goes into the other universe, the animation quality of the show improves tenfold. They are as smooth and the colour scheme is very pretty to the eyes. KyoAni has never been known for skimping on animation, and they are not starting now. Music was also pretty good overall.
FINAL VERDICT
A decent episode, Episode 8 wasn’t the change of pace that the show needed. On its own merit, it was a great episode. When seen as a part of the whole season, this episode didn’t offer much in the way of development and progression.
