MY THOUGHTS ABOUT
THE PLOT : Everything you could ever ask of any piece of media took place over 23 minutes right in front of our eyes. A plot thread that was being hinted at since the start of the season (Elma helping Tohru fight Ilulu) and led to a flashback of Elma and Tohru being friends and travelling companions has reached its conclusion.
THE CHARACTERS : This episode used all the characters to perfection. Tohru and Elma formed the emotional core, Fafnir was the protector of violence, Kobayashi was the voice of reason, and the kids and Ilulu were cute and funny. A perfect cast, one might say.
THE ANIMATION : KyAni took the strength of their animation quality to an even greater height in this episode. The battle scene was better than 99% of battles seen in shonen battle anime, and that is saying something.
FINAL THOUGHTS
A masterclass in animation, storytelling, and action, Episode 9 was an episode for the ages. Episodes like this make one remember why we love the medium of anime so much.
